Meet Skye! A 14’2 grey QH-cross 13 y/o mare rescued by Heart of Phoenix.
RIDES (W/T/C) and DRIVES. Ties, clips, and loads. Sound and up-to-date on shots. Skye is sensitive and forward without being reactive or spooky. Easy keeper and a calming presence in the herd. The only reason she is not a beginner horse is because she requires a foundation of trust and can be strong when nervous. If you are interested in Skye, please be willing to spend at least a month gaining her trust. Once earned, this old soul will take you anywhere.
**Update on May 23, 2019**
Skye continues to look for her forever person. I have fostered her since October 2018 and she continues to make progress every day. As mentioned, she is a big love and clearly wants to be a pocket pony. She is not flighty, spooky, touchy, sensitive, or reactive. Her greatest challenge is being herd bound. She is able to work away from the herd, however, and she gets better with every session (I am riding her about 3xs a week). When she gets nervous about being away from her friends, she gets strong and quick. Calm corrections can bring her back, but she is not for a nervous rider who cannot sit deeply and make the correction.
Skye will do best as some one person’s soul mate in an environment that can consider her nervousness at being left alone. She would make an incredible partner for a confident teenager with a horsey background (she was actually originally trained by one such individual) who is looking for a will-do-anything type horse. I could also envision her as a great partner for an older experienced horse person looking for a non-reactive partner that is still wonderfully sensitive and in-tune with her rider for that beautiful connection. And everything in between! She also seems to have an affinity for men. But most of all, she is just looking to find her one.
Skye is currently fostered in Central Virginia within easy reach of Washington, DC, as well as Richmond and Charlottesville, VA. Please contact email@example.com any questions
